Imagini din Maramuresul istoric

Maramureşul istoric are ca trăsătură definitorie geografia accidentată a terenului. Este destul de dificil să dai de un teren plat, lucru care se întâmplă totuşi în apropierea cursurilor de apă unde frământatul trecutul geologic a sedimentat platouri folosite acum în special pentru agricultură. Legătura dintre oameni şi animalele care îi slujesc în traiul lor liniştit este evidentă. M-a impresionat (prima imagine) grija pe care o are omul pentru caii săi – deoarece era frig, le-a acoperit spatele cu o bucată de ţesătură groasă şi curată. În a doua imagine, hamul e decorat cu ciucuri roşii. Copilul de abia aşteaptă să meargă la şcoală şi este mândru de câinele care îi este supus în toate.

Earth Hour: Shutdown

OK, so everybody is in for the “Earth Hour”. This 28 March the “switch off” frenzy of the light between 8:30 and 9:30 has conquered everyone – from little schoolboys to politicians. I have nothing against it; it is great to reduce the pressure upon the environment. But what a propaganda! Do you think that it is such a great thing to turn off the lights for one hour and then go back to those incandescent bulbs? Will you be a better environmentalist than me, who will not stay in the dark like in the middle ages, but who takes the paper to one of the only two places where paper can be collected separately (in a neighborhood of a few tens of thousands of people!!!), collects separately PET and switches off water when shaving or tooth brushing? No, you’re just having a motif. And what a lousy and poor campaign of raising awareness has the Romanian version of Discovery, or something, has been promoting (www.descopera.ro): you can learn what crimes have you made in 2008 – according to them,  I have killed some animals and left hundreds (or thousands) of people run out of water. But can you live without water, without bathing (there’s the middle ages again)? You must brainwash children by talking of murders, just as consumption was a crime? Awareness must be well argued, real things must be talked and eco-friendly solutions must be given!

If you switch off and have no idea what to do here are some tips.

So here is my alternative version of the “earth-day”:

Ziua Mondiala a Teatrului

NU uitaţi că pe 27 martie se celebrează Ziua Mondială a Teatrului. Teatrul Naţional Lucian Blaga din Cluj-Napoca organizează “Ziua Porţilor Deschise”. Eveniment cu totul deosebit (poate inspirat de episodul expoziţiei DaVinci de la teatrul de Operetă): emisiune live Cap şi Pajură cu CTP şi Huhu. Sper sa fiu acolo. Programul complet al zilei aici.

O noua marturie catastrofica

O descoperire din anul 2005 arată că triceratopşii erau animale gregare  (trăiau în grupuri) şi nu solitare, cum se credea până acum. Depozitul de fosile descoperit in sud-estul Montanei conţine rămăşiţele a cel puţin 3 juvenili de ceratopsidae. Aceştia au fost surprinşi de un eveniment catastrofic şi îngropaţi împreună. Aceasta se poate petrece atunci cînd există o cantitate enormă de apă, care vine brusc şi aduce o cantitate mare de debriuri şi mâl cu ajutorul cărora îngroapă subit corpurile întâlnite. Ca de exemplu un potop. Cercetătorii spun că este vorba doar de “o inundaţie locală”. Însă astfel de dovezi se alătură mărturiilor depre Potopul biblic.
