Sodalitul apare in asociere cu nefelinul in roci magmatice alcaline precum sienitele si dykurile sarace in silice. Caracteristica esentiala este culoarea albastra, duritate 5,5-6 pe scara Mohs.
Sodalite occurs with nepheline in igneous alkali rocks like syenites or silica poor dykes. The distinguishing feature is the blue color. The hardness on the Mohs Scale is 5.5 – 6.
